On July 10, 2022 at the QUEEN + Adam Lambert concert in Bologna Italy, Adam unleashed his classically trained voice on a short extra for the local audience.
This aria from Puccini's opera Turandot has been used by several rock musicians to showcase their versatility - Eric Adams of Manowar, Mike DelGuidice from Billy Joel's band, and Marc Martel of whatever Queen coverband he is in nowadays come to mind.
Neither came close to the gold standard.
QUEEN + Adam Lambert performed the song again on July 11, 2022.
Then on July 13, 2022, Adam took to Instagram to explain how this all came together:
"Nessun Dorma by Puccini from Bologna, Italy.
During soundcheck, I started singing this song, which I had learned many many years ago as a teenager when I trained in Opera for a brief time.
We decided to put a piece of it into our set whilst in the ‘Opera’ house visual.
I have always loved this melody. It conveys such triumph. 💛"
On a a less serious note, during a guest visit to the Ellen Show hosted by tWitch (R.I.P.) to promote the Battle Of The Cover Bands competition (also hosted by tWitch), Adam performed a tweet by Cher using a rather believable female singing voice.
